So about my birthday...
Well, Tom promised that it would be a better birthday than my last two -- which, truthfully, weren't hard to top -- but he definitely made good.
I got a beautiful ring and a beautiful, official proposal! I'm so excited!!
I've yet to get a good pic of the ring, though not for lack of trying, because I really wanted to show you girls!
We had a great day -- I had to work a bit, but we spent time with my family and then went out to eat -- I had a glass of wine  -- and we just came back to my house. He had prepped me that he was NOT going to officially pop the question on my birthday, but I was kind of holding out hope until we left the resturaunt. He fooled me!
We got back here and I (egomaniac that I am) asked him to tell me why he loved me. So he did -- I'll spare every sappy detail -- but he basically said, "The other day, I was talking to my mother about why I think we should get married. I think we should get married because there's never a day that I don't want to see you. No matter what happens, even if we've had an argument the day before, I always look forward to seeing you because I know that we're going to have fun and laugh and that something good always happens. I want to spend the rest of my life with you." Then he got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him. He then fumbled to get the ring out of his wallet, where he had buried it deep in one of the little pockets because he was paranoid about losing it and he didn't want it to show when he paid for dinner. Girls, it's so beautiful. I can't wait to show you.  Love you guys! Just had to share before I went to sleep tonight!

First -- I love you guys -- and I WILL get pics in the morning -- er, well, after my morning meeting. Sorry it's taking so long! 
We made the rounds today and officially announced our official engagement to our extended families. It was really great. My grandmother cried. It was so sweet.
We were going to come back and get pics up, but I had a little scare -- my family dog was hit by a car. Thankfully, she's pretty all right, just a little cut on her leg. At any rate, Tom and I were at the pet ER with my stepdad and brother for the last few hours waiting while they ran tests, took x-rays, etc. I'm so happy my puppy is ok!!!
It really was a beautiful proposal, it was just perfect for us. I couldn't have imagined anything better! And yes, I did get carded to order my wine. I was so excited! I'm so lame.
