I'm Mrs. Green!!!
Soooo..... I'm finally married! After all the stressing and the insanity, it is all over, and .... what can I say? I am absolutely stunned and amazed by how everything turned out. I mean, we had sooo many last-minute glitches and I was about to despair getting the wedding of my dreams, and somehow, it still turned out perfectly. what a beautiful, blessed day. Ok, enough preamble, here goes:
Starting with the RD night, we had planned on going to my absolute favorite restaurant which serves cajun food. However, due to some nasty emails from the proprietor (of all people) saying we were incompetent in our preparations, so we basically cancelled last-minute. That stressed the bride out just a little bit, but Rickey took over and talked to one of his groomsmen who is the manager of a local golf course. He ordered famous Memphis barbeque and we went out to the golf course after the rehearsal. And now that I think about it, it was so much more fun that going to a hoity-toity place where all Rickey's (incredibly "krunk") men had to be on their best behavior at the expense of their comfort level. We ended up having a blast and staying out way too late. As for the rehearsal itself, I selected one of my close girlfriends (not a BM) to be my coordinator/go-to person, and she was a miracle worker!!!! She was just immediately in charge, and made me feel so at ease. However, nothing prepared me for how freaked out I was!!!! I mean, up til that point, all the preparations had gotten messy and stressful, and so I guess I was more focused on that than the idea that I was getting married in a day. It just felt like my closest friends were gathered around us to have a party, but not for my wedding.... at the rehearsal, I was just so overwhelmed with the reality of it, I couldn't even hear people talking to me!!! It was actually kind of funny that I was way more nervous than Rickey OR his guy friends!!! But Erin made sure we all knew what we were doing.
Fast forward to the day-of, and I woke up at 7am on the dot! No beauty sleep for this bride-to-be!!! I was way too jacked up! My roommate Amy (a BM) and I were having the BM brunch at my house, so I went ahead and got up and starting setting the tables and getting ready for that. All my BM's plus my spiritual mom and two more people who were priceless in helping me do stuff all came together and we had fun goodies and laughed, had a great, sweet time. Oh, btw, to interrupt myself for a moment... Soem of you know that I am a triplet and am super-close to one sis and less so to the other. Also, I am estranged from my parents, and the sis I am less close to lives w/ them. My parents were not invited to the wedding, but did know about it, and up to that point my sis was ok w/ that, but she went AWOL on us! She called me two days before the RD and said she wanted to hang out w/ her boyfriend so she was unavailable to come for the RD, and then she all of a sudden had to work the morning of the BM brunch (which was the day of the wedding), but was still planning on coming to the wedding and being a BM. I was a little peeved, b/cs she's known about this wedding for forever, and if she had just shown that she cared a little bit or were interested, or something, I dunno.... Anyway, so she wasn't at the BM brunch and at that point I had not picked up (ie payed for) her BM gown, b/cs I didn't even know if she were coming to the wedding or not. My other sis had not even heard from her either and told me to stop worrying about it, and that if Kathy wanted to show up she was welcome, but that b/cs of her lack of communication, that she could not be a BM, so that is what we decided to do. After the BM brunch, I got my nails done and then had a hair appointment w/ FMIL, which was fun. It was then time to go to the Brodnax and get ready. My spiritual mom was there ready to tie my corset which took an act of God (lol), but we did it, and I felt beautiful (if a little fat). From there it was just waiting after formal pics were taken to be the center of everyone's attention! I was much more calm than I had been the night before, and I was readier than ever to be married! The ceremony was just stunning. We had about 70 people show up (out of 85), and instead of rows of chairs, (b/cs we had the reception adn the ceremony in the same space) we had tables already set up at which the guests sat. Everyone later on said that it made it feel even more intimate and close-knit, and I'm glad no one was out out by it! I walked down the huge staircase w/out falling which is spectacular, and my spiritual mom/day escorted me from there the rest of the length to where Rickey was standing. THe look on his face was precious; I hope the photographer got it on film! He definitely had tears in his eyes, and he whispered "You're beautiful" when I looked at him. Our close friend Jay, who just got ordained like 4 months ago, came in from GA to marry us (we're his first!!), and that was just so meaningful. His wife was also one of my BMs and she sang a solo to me coming down the aisle. The ceremony was very short and sweet, we had a couple of praise/worship songs sung w/ the entire assembly, adn then my spiritual dad came up and read us some blessings that he thought were applicable to our new life together. THen we were married!!! We went up w/ about 6 other guests and had a private foot-washing service (so that our first act as a couple would be one of service to each other) and then we did the last of the formal pics, and the party started! Rickey was in charge of the music, which meant that it was pretty ghetto, but it was so much fun! I even danced once, but that's a really big deal, b/cs I'm terrified of dancing!!!! I'm still blown away by how gorgeous everything was (flowers-perfect, cake-perfect, venue-perfect).... and I'm married to the man I love above all else!!! My sister never showed up, which saddens me, but I'm not even sure it would have been pleasant had she been there. Everyone who was there was absolutely crucial to mine and Rickey's life, so it was such a wonderful time... we had plenty of chances to mingle and meet everyone and people kept telling me how beautiful I was, how sweet the ceremony was, and what a perfect couple we were. (I'm telling you, weddings are a very expensive ego boost!!! LOL)
We got some absoultely amazing photographs, and I can't wait to show them to you all!!! Thanks for sending happy thoughts/prayers our way.... even the weather was gorgeous, in Jan!!!
Now that I am married, you'll finally be seeing more of me... the computer moved in w/ me today!!!
Danielsgirl, I hope your day was as magical as mine was!!!

Ah Misty, I'm so, so happy to hear it all went well!
You had me worried about all your little glitches but you've done it now and it was all great! The invites must have been sorted out because your guests arrived at the right place on the right day And I'm guessing you found another caterer coz you didn't mention any starving guests
So did your SMom make the cake?
Totally excited to hear you're going to be around more, I've missed you loads the last couple of months! But even though you're married now you're still going to be busy coz you've got that little one to prepare for now. This is going to be such a fantastic year for you and Rickey, two momentous occasions in the one year
I know you must be disappointed that your sis didn't show her support but I'm glad you've found a way to view it that won't hold too much resentment... Maybe your folks were making it hard for her. But like you said the best part is that you're now married to a wonderfully caring and supportive husband and will soon have your very own little family!
Congratulations Honey, I couldn't be happier for you A. xxx.

Congratulations!!!
I know how it feels to have one of your own sisters skip your wedding. At least in my case, I knew about four months beforehand that she wouldn't be coming. In my case, she was a drug addict (though we didn't know for sure at that time). Not only did she miss the wedding (was supposed to be a bridesmaid), but all three of her kids were supposed to be in the wedding, so of course they also missed it.

 Congratulations!!! Yay!!!
I'm sorry to hear about your sister. I'm sure it must have been disappointing. But it sounds like your spiritual mom and the *family* that matters deep in your soul made up for it. That must have been stressful about the RD, too! But it sounded like it worked out for the best.
Can't wait for pictures!!!
