wave What to do after the ceremony?

Hi,

Well, that is a good question. With so many destination wedding couples requesting wedding dates and times later in the day so many are moving from ceremony to pictures to cocktail hour to wedding dinner then dancing. Actually looking back at the weddings that I have done over the past two years that has been the trend. They either get that late in the date time or find another resort. Now before that about 2 - 5 years ago we did have allot of couples who had weddings earlier in the day. Many wanted the 1pm - 3pm time slot. Having traveled with a few of those weddings I can tell you from experience what they did, however I want to take your question another way too. Lets say you meant the day after. So lets take your question both ways.

In the past when I a couple has had an earlier wedding date they have either had their guests go their own way until the wedding dinner time or planned a trip. I had a couple who had 88 people traveling in 2005 to the RIU Palace Mexico located in the Playa del Carmen area. They had a 1:00pm ceremony and a 8:00pm wedding dinner time. With a legal ceremony and pictures only lasting an hour they wanted to keep their guests interested. So what they did was to advise everyone to get into casual clothes for the rest of the day. Then we loaded everyone up and got them to the port in Playa del Carmen for trip over to Cozumel for the rest of the day. They had their guests make a beach club the main spot then had trips set up from there, downtown shopping, jeep tours and snorkling.

Another couple that I had back in 2000 in Puerto Vallarta took their guests on a private city tour which ended up at dining place by waterfalls where they had an early dinner for their wedding and went back to the resort for drinks and dancing.

Now if you where talking about the day after, allot of couples use the buffet dining room to have a brunch or a goodbye brunch. Since so many guests leave the day after the wedding it is a perfect was for the bridal couple to "host" their guests. Thank them for coming and saying goodbye. Some couples who do not have a Saturday wedding will have Saturday setup for a lunch meeting for everyone then some kind of activity like a shopping tour or golfing or special interest.

Those are just a few choices but I have to be honest not many have the lag time between the ceremony and dinner to do anything. So I hope this can help!

Best wishes on your special day

Take care,
Lindsay

How about a horse & buggy ride? I always thought a bride looks awsome on a buggy and SC should have some lovely areas for it

I would think maybe a horseback ride on the beach at sunset together, or maybe even something as simple as a picnic dinner on the beach together. Simple, casual, and yet romantic!
