Default My dress came in and now I need shoes

I got a call yesterday that my dress is in so this morning my mom and I went to the shop. I put it on and all I could do is smile. I love it so much.

The top needs to be brought in and the straps need to be shortened a little so I'll call the alteration lady tomorrow to get that process going. Otherwise the dress fits great. I don't think I'll need to hem the bottom at all, as long as I find the right shoes, which makes me happy.

That brings me to a question. Do they actually make normal white shoes? I want a little heal so I don't have to hem the dress but I don't want the giant 3 inch heals. I'll kill myself. I'm used to no heals at all. I also want enough shoe to make it worth my money. We started looking today and some were so expensive but there wasn't any real shoe there. I just want a simple shoe that I can wear the whole day and not have my feet crying at the end of the night. I'd even pay some money if I found the right pair but there just isn't a whole lot out there right now.

The problem is that I need them for my alterations to start.

I'm not having much luck either Annie!

I've bought little ballet shoes to wear during the reception coz I'll be on my feet most of the night but I wanted a small heel to go to the ceremony in and have the pictures taken in. I didn't want to pay a fortune for them though because I'll *never* wear white shoes ever again! And I'd never get around to having them dyed. And the extra money would really be better spent else where... I've found one pair online that look ok, but I've been looking for ages and most of the proper wedding shoes cost up wards of £70

But congratulations on getting your lovely dress! You know we're going to want photos from your fitting, right?! Good luck with the shoe hunting!

I got my shoes from Payless. They were the dyeable kind but I just got white satin. Actually, I originally purchased the shoes for my SIL's wedding then wore them for my wedding.

I wore white sneakers with a big sole. My FIL didn't believe me until I showed him in this pic. He had a $50 bet with a friend of his at the table he was sitting at & he lost.

Ann I have ballet slippers to wear for the ceremony. I had never thought about it till a few years ago I was in a wedding. The bride gave them to us and told us we could wear them if we wanted for the ceremony but she wanted us in hills for pictures. I loved them the only time I will put my white hill sandals on is for the garter toss...

Well I have my dress, all we have left to do is alter the shoulders a little. But I can't find shoes. My dress is off-white and all the shoes I have seen are bright white. GRRRR. maybe when fh and I go to the city this weekend.

Omg, Heather, that is such a cute picture! Too funny that he didn't believe you. Wembley, I'm in the same spot that you are. Only my dress comes in next month, but I'd like to have my shoes before then. I'm going to find some kitten heeled shoes- they're like 1 inch heels. (I can't do taller than that b/c I'm already taller than FH.) I've seen a few in various shoe stores, like Shoe Show, Shoe Sensation, Jubiliee (I think that's the name.) I actually found a pair at that last store that were only $15, they were comfy but I didn't like the way they moved on my foot. But, if they have websites would you like me to post pictures?

deputysgurl- I have a similar problem. The dress is ivory and there's lots of very white and silver but not much that is off white or ivory. I found some that are kind of cute but they are white. Do you think it will stand out too much if I do end up with white shoes?

Heather- I have been thinking about going that route, with the tall white sneakers. It might be easier, especially since I'm not so much a heal person but I thought it would actually be fun to find something with a heal and pretty.

sparklesweetie- I would love any websites or suggestions!

I need all the help I can get. I seem to have a problem of never being able to find shoes when I need them but can find them everywhere when I don't have money to spend on them. Go figure.

wembley
I was thinking of using regular white, because it is almost impossible to find off white. I guess as long as noone stares at our feet it wouldn't be too bad.

Wembley have you got a fabric sample you could take with you to the shops so you can see them together? My ballet slippers were sold as white but they're really off white just like my dress. You can't really tell until you see them together. I was lucky that I took a scrap of fabric when my dress was being shortened.

I don't have a piece of fabric yet but I'm sure when they're fixing the top, they'll have to remove some and I can have that. I did find a website that has some shoes that I really like. The company sounds really good too, almost too good. They'll send them to me and if they don't fit or if they're not what I want, I can send them back for a full refund, including shipping. They also say that any of the white shoes can be tinted or dyed to match. I can send them back to have that done once I have the dress and the shoes together. They called it a "bridal wash." All of this makes me nervous though. It almost sounds too easy.

These are the shoes: http://www.bridalshoes.com/steffie.htm

I just am not sure what I want to do.

I found a few there with lowere heels... could check them out. I think they have good quality. There return policy is fair.

Newport does have nice shoes. And Wembley, I like that site you posted. I looked earlier for some pictures/links, and didn't really find anything. At least, the stores I mentioned had sites, but no pictures of their styles. So that wasn't any help. The only thing I would be weary about ordering shoes online would be that I couldn't try them on. But hey, if you can send them back, go for it.

I know I'm breaking a taboo with this but in my long, long quest for white shoes to wear, I never found any that I liked. However I did find these extremely beyond gorgeous sandals. There is a strap by the toes and up on the foot and they are connected by flowers linked by beads in a triangle shape. They also lace up your calf like ballet shoes. I got them at payless, on sale, for $20. I practically had to wipe my drool and put my eyeballs back in their sockets. They are without a doubt the ones I want for my wedding and they are..............black

I got mine from www.zappos.com

you would be surprised by the number of shoes that come in white...you can actually search by color. It's hard when you are looking at websites, sometimes you wouldn't ever know that a shoe comes in white...there were tons...every style and price you can imagine.

I just got a strappy heel sandal...but I wear heels everyday, so I'm used to them.

Oooo are you going to have black jewellery or hair accessories or something else to tye it all in?

I have no issue with your black shoes I think you'd need another little touch of black though to make it look like right.

I work black and silver wedges. I know that doesn't answer your question about normal white shoes...but honestly...when I was looking for plain, pretty white shoes, I couldn't find any. But it may have been the time of year I looked.
