Default Jewish Wedding-Rabbi Issue

Hello,

My fiance and I are having a small destination wedding in the Caribbean. We would like to have a rabbi officiate or co-officiate at the ceremony. There is a rabbi on St. Thomas USVI but he will not perform an interfaith ceremony. Do you know of any other rabbis that are in the area? We can fly in a rabbi but are trying to avoid the expense-if you do know of anyone who will not charge, charge only their fee, or low travel expenses, that would also be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!!

Default Hi Sorry for the delay!

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in not answering you back. Actually I thought, I did but checking today it seems I did not. And I like to answer everyone back within at least 48 hours. So I am truly very sorry.

As for your question, yes we do have a rabbi service that we use in the Caribbean however it is a traveling one into Puerto Rico. The lady who runs it actually does it for theirs because they do not have a permanent rabbi. So they have rabbis come down for a week to a month to conduct services. But there is a main concern. Whoever is the rabbi that will be down at there for the time of your wedding will have the right to say yes or no to an interfaith service. And the couple times that we have used them, there was only one that had an interfaith. The rabbi setup a session with the couple before he would decided to do it. He ended up doing it but it was not a common request. It did some pushing on allot of sides.

Bascially the cost for them was the airfare from Puerto Rico to St Thomas, at least 2 nights hotel (with all taxes) and airport transfers. But for them to have a rabbi fly out of Atlanta would have cost them much more.

No I do not have the right to give out the personal email or phone number of this lady, so what I am going to ask you is, if you are still interested with this service or anyone else reading this to contact me directly either through PASH's message system or my personal email Lindsay@tripsdowntheaisle.com I would love to give you a hand!

Best wishes
Lindsay
