Pearls?
With today's fashion industry that changes every 3 to 6 months, I tend to want to buy myself the fashion jewelry for my neck and hair but being the conservative type I was wondering if pearls are still fashionable. If so I was thinking of asking my mom to lend me her beautiful pearl necklace and simply put flowers in my hair. You know to do the something old something blue...
The pearls are old but they are simple and symbolic to me.

I think you should wear what you want.
That said - pearls are always fashionable. Especially with weddings.

Personally I think pearls are timeless. I've never met one I didn't love.

My best friend just went out and got pearls for her wedding...I think it's the classic traditional look that comes with being a bride! I think pearls are a lovely idea!! Especially when there's meaning behind them! So I say go for it! It's your wedding...if its what you want...don't worry about whether or not it's in style...it'll change in another 6 months anyways! hehe

I have to agree. I wore pearls. I think they are classic. They won't "date" you like this year's jewelry trend, this year's dress trend, this year's hairstyle trend or this year's eye wear trend.
I am just thinking back to when as a bridesmaid I wore a flower print eyelet dress & a big floppy white hat to my brother's wedding. He was wearing a powder blue tux and a ruffled shirt! LOL Oh, how they must laugh when they look back on their wedding photos.

Pearls are indded the timeless classic. If you go to estate and antique jewelry sites, you will find pearls go waaaaay back. And are always beautiful.

Thank you
You are all right! I shouldn't worry about what is or isn't in style and wear the pearls.
Pictures do tell a story don't they...

Aren't those types of pictures funny to look back on?
I think my husband wore that same tux to one of his high school proms!

Hugh wore a suit to his grad in 1978, while all the other guys wore the ruffly shirts. Of course his hair and sideburns + the wide lapels (and maybe my Dorothy Hamel hair cut + choker) gives away the era - far out man!

I wore pearls at my wedding. I agree they are very classic and timeless, and aren't trendy at all.
Plus, you can express individual style when you pick out earrings or a bracelet; I found a great pair of dangly pearl earrings that I loved that weren't in the traditional pearl stud style.

Long, swinging pearl earrings are the number one fashion choice. Elegant pearl chandelier styles are perfect for evening and long, geometric pearl earrings in white and yellow gold have become the look of choice for daytime. Sensuous, shoulder-sweeping pearl earrings create a feeling of glamor like nothing else!!
