haha well mine isn't till May 2010 so we're both in the long term planning category! But it's so nice because you have time to look around and get a good look at all your options! Take advantage of it!!

I started planning my June 2008 wedding in une 2006... Trust me, it is GREAT to have that much time to plan! You can really think about what is most "you" shop around, and save money by doing a lot of stuff yourself!

Welcome to Pash!

I started planning my Jan 09 wedding in June 06 when we got engaged. It makes things a lot easier financially because you can spread things out.

I actually already have my dress, which is nice. So I won't have to stress about that. I'm in the process of trying to decide which DIY project I want to do first...probably the invitations.

I'm doing my DIYs in the order that I need them/order of imporance (to me):
1. Save-the-Dates
2. Invitations
3. Decorations
4. Programs
5. Favors

When it gets a little closer, I'll probably have a DIY party with my BMs to help with some of the last-minute stuff...

As for reserving a location, I started calling around immediately after I got engaged... and was suprised by how many places were already book for the WHOLE summer 2008! So consider yourself lucky that the places are still available and you are first on their list when they do start taking reservations - it's a much better place to be than the other way around!!

Thanks Julz....I like your timeline for DIYs. Good idea with the STDs first!!! I would have forgotten them and THAT would not have been a good thing.

Yay!!
did you pick a date yet??
I picked the first weekend in Oct. because the weather here will still be nice..the only thing is, it's one of my best friends birthday. hope she doesn't mind! I haven't asked her yet, but I do want her to be one of my bridesmaids.

oh, i think there is a lot of long-term planners on here from what i see. I am July 2009, and i have been engaged since December (so its about a year and a half engagement).

everyone says it just "flies by", but for me, it seems like more time to obsess! LOL

Ha! It's true....more time to obsess
I think it's good start planning way ahead of time, might save more money that way. Plus, hopefully, we won't feel all rushed.

CONGRATS on your engagement! i LOVE halloween!!!!! it would be cool to have candy apples or something halloween related as your favor!

let me tell you... you get such good deals if you plan ahead. i called some transportation companies a few months ago about a shuttle for my guests. they quotes $75/hour. that was a good price, so i said yes. they told me that i am lucky, because now they are quoting $95/hour because gas is so high!!!!! i am lucky i planned ahead and got that price!

We're getting married on October 17th. We've already booked our ceremony/reception location, our DOC, and are on the way to booking our DJ. I have purchased my dress and veil, and am in the process of getting everything together for bridesmaids' gifts. I feel like I'm ahead, but I'm still freaking out!! Lol You guys know how that is!

good stuff! I can't book my ceremony site until August because I just joined the Church in January/February. I was tempted to go back to my old Church ... but this one is perfect! I am talking to wedding planners also... but i think i might just try it without a planner...
