Thumbs up Possible July wedding

Last night we had a very very long fun conversation about us getting married. We have tentatively set a date of July 4th (his dad was killed on this day and he would like to make something possitive out of it ) After much discussion about housing, building on yadda yadda, we have decided to sell his house and buy a slightly bigger one since his house is a modular home and building on would not increase the value but rather decrease its selling ability in our area. So tomorrow we are calling the bank to find out what the payoff would be and then start shopping for a realitor. We want to get married in July but can't be possitive of the date because we will have to make sure we can house everyone without causing too much coas. LOL that's too funny to think we ALL could live without caos. hee hee! He did tell me to go ahead with my "girly" moments and plan the wedding although he preferred the court house and a trip through Burger king He was just kidding of course. So I get to plan!!! Keep your fingers crossed we can sell for enough to pay it off and make a down payment and find out semi dream house!

I'm having a slight mental overload! I have to reserve the hall ASAP for the July 4th BUT if we can't get the house sold and a new one bought before then we will be out a ton of money (well my mom will ) I'm almost thinking we should do this another weekend in July. But I had soooo many cool ideas for a 4th wedding but the important thing is we are getting married, right?

The fact that you're getting married IS the important thing...but it's always nice to get what you want/have fun with it as well...BUT I would also say that it's important not to run out of money lol...so just think it out...and maybe make some sacrifices for the wedding and wait and see how things work out!

We are definately getting married in July but just not sure which date. We will know more once we talk to the bank and a realtor. But I guess I can go ahead and plan the "generic" stuff now. BTW: Got my dress and I'm not really sure about it. It's beautiful but THIN super thin and needs some major alterations.

Well it is THE DRESS...so if it's not the one you want...keep looking!! It's your wedding dress...so you want it to be perfect!!! And if you find a new one...just return the old one!! You still have plenty of time to find one!

You're right about the dress. Although this one is thin and cool enough to keep for nicer dining say on our honeymoon. So I'll keep looking. I knew that was too easy.

Now for the shocker. He called the bank and they were totally rude to him he said. First let me say that we live in a very low income area and property values are lower than the average US city. Second, he went to consolidate some debt last year and the talked him into refinancin. SO, he bought the house and land for $42,000: refinanced $34,000 so he owes after 9 years....$45,000!!!! WTF? What kind of retarded loan officer adviced him to refinance? BTW: he doesn't have escrow so he pays taxes and insurance seperate. It's a double wide on a block foundation on 3 1/2 acres. He added a garage but it isn't finished. ARG!!! There is no way we can get the money out of it and be clear. I feel sick to my stomach. I just want to get married and live happily ever after...It was in the brochure...I want it!

Default UPDATE

Well this has been a very full, stressful week. We called the bank, he owes more on the house than we thought (long story) we have been butting our heads against the wall trying to figure out what to do. Then Viola! It came to me! After I got him to sort of see my vision for building on to his house with out "chopping" it up he got an open mind but he started stressing about getting a loan to build on because although he has perfect credit mine is just so so since my ex left me with alot of debt that I refused to file bankruptcy so I've been struggling but getting it fixed. Anywho, I suggested we start a building fund, a joint savings account we both bust butt to put money in then put into a CD and borrow against the CD (better interest rate - that's what I did with my remodeling) SOOOOOO, we are pushing back the date by one year which means I get to have more time to plan! But we are definately getting married in July of 09. YEAH!!!!! Just wanted to update everyone.

YEah, now I get to be one of the Long Timers. I have a better feeling about it now. Before I was excited about the wedding but stressed about the living and financial part. It gets so complicated when you do this the second time around so to speak ie having kids already. But I do get to plan and plan and of course SAVE SAVE SAVE. I'm going to the bank next week to talk to my banker lady and see what she recommends. I also need to do some work on some credit issues ie lack of

Glad that you got everything straightened out.

By the way - July 4, 2009, is a Saturday. You could still get married on the 4th of July and use your ideas!

I'm going to move this thread to the July 2009 forum.

That's great about being able to use your 4th of July ideas!!! See...it all works out in the end hehe...

I'm really glad you guys decided to wait...it's never good to get married and already be financially burdened!
