Default invitation pricing

What is a good budget for invitations? I'm thinking that $3/invite is expensive. Is it even possible to have nice looking invites for about $1 each? I'm interested in DIY invites, but I'm feeling a little overwhelmed right now. Any advice?

Well, it depends on your budget, but I think that $3 per invite is pricey, too. I paid $285 for 200 invites (included RSVP cards and envelopes, etc).

If you want to DIY, check out the invites that Pash has available in the Invitations thread. They have all sorts of beautiful templates that weren't available when I was planning my wedding.

I didn't want to spend much money on my invites (they just get thrown out!) but I still wanted something nice. I found some good ones at www.annsbridalbargains.com (I'm not in any way affiliated with the site!)

I paid about $300 for 200 invites with extra lines, pdf proofs, 200 reception cards, return address on back flap of outer envelopes, lined inner envelopes, extra inner and outer envelopes, and custom color.

They have some really hideous invites on the site, but also some really nice ones. The shipping was fast, and when they screwed something up on my order, they fixed it immediately. I highly recommend them!

I made mine myself I just went to Michaels and bought the supplies and made them at night after my DS was in bed! I paid about $140 for what came to be 100 invites (includes envelopes and response cards, etc)
