Default Old Albums and Pictures

Hi Marci. Got a problem I'm hoping you can help me with. Do you know those older type of photo albums that just have sticky pages? Well, I've borrowed some of my mom's albums to scan the pictures and I've hit a block. Most of the pictures came right out of the album (either they had already fallen off or came off with very little prying) but there are a few that are really stuck.

Any idea on how to get the pictures out without destroying them? Obviously they aren't going back into that album - I think I'm going to spend a fortune buying new albums, lol. And on that note - are the new albums with the sticky pages any better/safer than the old ones?

I've recently had the same dilemma when the plastic pages ripped apart when I tried to peel it back. I don't use the old style album anymore (professionally or personally) because I got sick of the pages turning yellow. Probably the best thing to do is to scan the pages on a good flatbed scanner and redo the whole darn thing cause finding pages to match the size (and yellowness) would probably be darn near impossible! Best of luck and sorry that I didn't see this message until what, two months later (when it finally popped into the que!).

BUMP for Renee. For some reason Marci's answer was sitting in the approval que all this time even though it shouldn't need approval.

Thanks Steven.

Just info should anyone else have the same issue - I ended up reading that you can use a butter knife to gently separate the picture from the page. It's what I ended up doing to the pictures that were stuck.

I'm with you Marci, though, that the pages turn yellow and it's very annoying. But with my APS film it's hard to find albums that will fit the pictures, so that's what I used there for awhile.
