I like choice #1 better because then you'll get the response card either way.

__ accepts __ regrets

And our meal secection options were printed underneath the above text. I personally like the wording of accepts/regrets because it sounds gentler than 'will not attend.' I always feel like 'will not attend' sounds like "I won't go" rather than "Sorry, I can't make it." Yeah, I know, I have issues.

I think you should do a combo such as:

Please reply on or before
August 12, 2006
M___________________
Number attending _____
Regretfully decline_____

I agree that you should have not attending as an option, but you also need to know how many in the family will make it.

Me too.

Possibly add the number attending? Especially if you have invited Friend +guest.

I like Bebe's and Lizbet's suggestions, but I guess that's not actually much help! Sorry.

Em... let me think...

I'd keep it quite simple:

Kindly reply before the * of *
M________________
Will be attending:___
Cannot attend:_____
Number attending:__

Mine say:
M_________
Thanks you for your invitation which we will/will not be able to accept.
I've got a list of who I invited so in theory I'll know how many will be in each party.

Actually now I think about it I'm not sure about the wording of mine either!

I like Lizbet's. Especially with putting "regrets" instead of decline and how its basically asking "accepts" and "how many" in one line. If you seperate them you might end up with people checking the "accept" but not going on and writing how many are coming.
