Well, we've been talking about it for almost 3 years, so it wasn't really going to be a surprise at any point. He just really wants to propose which I think is cute. We met at work, but I had actually had a crush on him when I was in middle school and used to stop at the store he worked at with a friend after school so we could giggle and blush when we talked to him.

I'm just updating with what we have planned so far

My parents have been married for nearly 27 years, and his parents have been married for 35 years (maybe longer?). We wanted to acknowledge that by including aspects of their weddings in ours. We will be having a sunrise ceremony with only immediate family members (and my "sister") at my parents' property on the WA coast. We will then head home, stopping for breakfast on the way, before setting up the reception site for a much larger group of friends and extended family. We have a reception cite lined up, cater & DJ in the works... I don't have a lock down on what colors I want, but there will be flowers EVERYWHERE!!! (Mostly grown by myself, FH, my mom, and friends). I've got a cake designed in my head, but I don't know where to go yet (and I'm not really looking). I'm starting to hunt for a dress, but it's going to be hard because it's going to be an early morning, outdoor ceremony and a late afternoon/evening/night reception.

Updating-- I have THE Dress. Ok, I don't have it yet, but I found it. It's even better than the rough idea I had in mind. The only thing I don't like about it - it's from David's Bridal. I haven't been in there in 3 years (as a MOH) and their customer service hasn't improved a bit. Oh, well. I'll take it for that dress.

*I have a friend who will be doing invitations as her wedding present (she's in the industry so this is actually really cool!)
*I'm looking for a new reception site, because the one I had in mind isn't "right". Right now I've got 2 places in the works - it's all up to FH at this point. (I just talked to him & he likes my favorite of the two!!)
* my MOH's boyfriend is going to be our photographer- he minored in photography in college & I am in love with his portfolio. He's doing it for cost of film/printing.
*we are now debating the caterer. We are leaning towards a cocktail/dessert reception because FH really wants it to be laid back & I'm not into formal weddings. And my favorite new reception site isn't available until 7pm.
*We now have the option of 2 DJs for the same price (food/drink during reception)!

He proposed 2 years ago - I'm just waiting for my ring (which is currently sitting in his sock drawer) .

So here's the dress. I'll be wearing it with a wide champagne sash:

Just an update:

We have the reception site booked. It's an inner city arts center. Which is totally our style. We now have a 3 piece band who is preforming for drinks and food. Which might be more expensive than it sounds, seeing as how they are 20-21 year old starving college boys, lol.

They are straight-edge Catholics. Otherwise there is no way I would go along with it.

Just some updates:

FMIL threw a fit when she found out how small our ceremony guest list was going to be. It's now triple what it was. (I'm not even going to get started.) Unfortunately, the original location was also out of the picture because it simply cannot hold that many people. And oddly enough, it's really hard to find a place for a June wedding only 3 months before hand.

After nearly a month of desperately searching, a dozen places falling through for various reasons, and a whole lot of FMIL name-cursing (at least on my part), FH and I signed our contract & paid our deposit on this place today: http://www.greenbankfarm.com/
It's totally perfect for us!

So now I might actually be able to get my invites out according to my original schedule! I can't wait to post pics of them- I am loving how they will look! My MOH is coming over on Wed/Thurs to help me assemble them so I'll have pictures soon!

Also, my garter set, earrings & the puzzle rings I'm adding to my BM gifts all showed up today.

Your new venue looks gorgous!! Have you gotten the ring yet? The wedding date will be here before you know it.

So I know that I shouldn't be offended about not getting all my response cards back, but... I haven't gotten any in almost 2 weeks. I know postage went up, but I already covered that when I bought stamps in the first place. The cards aren't even due until next Friday, but I'm sad.

On the other hand, I'm down to just the little details!
(Except for the Sunday-after brunch- I'm still scratching my head on that one.)

My shower is coming up on the 31st. One of my girls is off in Italy & Greece right now, so we are waiting until she's home. Especially since she's the one setting it up! It's going to be at one of those paint your own pottery places. Everyone paints a piece and that is their gift. I've never heard of it, so I thought it sounded pretty cool.

The last major thing to take care of is picking up our marriage license, which we are doing on Friday. I'm really excited for that!

I feel ya on the RSVPs, but don't get too down about it. People, in general, are bad for not returning them. I had to call 1/2 of my guest list in the end.

Sounds like the shower is going to be pretty cool though. Take pictures!!!

Definitely don't be offended or sad about the rsvps. You might get a few in just before (or just after!) the deadline, but chances are if you haven't heard from them yet, they've misplaced them, lost track of time, etc...and you'll need to call them. I had a bunch I needed to follow up with, and actually, a few invitations that got lost in the mail, so my phone call was the first they knew they'd been invited.
