Another March bride
My wedding date is March 16th, I don't really have a theme. My gown in Ivory and champagne, and my favorite color is pink...so bridal or pastel pink, ivory and champage are my colors for the decorations, cake and everything. I was hoping it would be more "Springy" rather than Wintery at that time.

Above is a link to the dress I bought from Davids Bridal. It's not too clear, but you get a good idea. It's not your typical white dress that I thought I would have gone for, I tried on a few of them and this one just looked and felt the best on me - there was no question there's very pretty beading at the top that you can't really see in the pic. I also got the matching necklace, earings and tiarra that she's wearing. The veil is also really beautiful, it has a champagne strip along the bottom that matches the dress, I'm thinking about keeping in on through the entire reception.
Yes, it is coming up very soon! So far I've know what I'm wearing, we have the hall booked - we will be having a non denominational ceremony in one part of the hall which will be sectioned off, then the rest of the hall will be for the reception. Right now, I'm working on decorations for the reception and ceremony. (We're working on a very modest budget) I'm also trying to find a photographer.
I've booked someone for hair and make up, and I'm going to keep her because I've already paid for and done the trial but I think I'm getting ripped off. It was $95 for the trial. Then when the trial was over she told me she has a $300 minimum (she will coming to my house the day of) but the cost of the bride is $200. So because of the minimum I've pre-paid for one other person to get hair and make up done..with $30 credit towards another one....I hope all this isn't too confusing. Anyway, so I've spent double than what I planned on for hair and make up, I'm definitely going to have a brides maid come in and get done up to make use of that. Her website looked very professional but now I'm thinking that I want to check her out because she says she's award winning and professional cause that's her website. Does anyone know where I would look, are there any associations etc?

Welcome to Pash
Does the $200 include makeup? If so, then thats a good price, especially since she's coming to your house.
If it doesnt include makeup then ya that is pricey.

Welcome!
$200 is a bit pricey for me... Thats what I am setting aside for my hair, nails, and makeup. And that still leaves me with about 40$ for miscellaneous expenses that might come up on the day of that I did anticipate!

Your dress is beautiful!!! IS the hair dresser really expensive for bridesmaids too because if not then maybe all your bridesmaids could have their hair done at your house?

This is so funny because I am having a March wedding because of the exact opposite. I wanted a "winter/snowflake" theme but was hoping it wasn't too bad at this time of year... I hope your weather works for you too! I would like a light dusting of snow... but I am just hoping for a good time... bad weather or good weather.

I have no idea what to expect for the weather, but I guess it really doesn't matter since everything will be indoor - except for some pictures. I've got to be careful with the decorations, because of my taste I could easily have it looking to Springy or Summery cause I love pink and bright cheerful colors.
So here are some decoration ideas I've got for now for the reception:
Helium balloons champagne and pink, with ribbons coming down from them covering most of the ceiling. I'm ordering it through a florist and they will be delivering them blown up and ready to use (It's way too expensive to completely cover the ceiling so there will be gaps).
If it's not too expensive, white chair covers with pink ribbons and sashes around them, white table cloths with pink runners. Scattered pink rose petals along the runner and centerpieces of glass bowls with floating pink tea light candles. A friend of mine had another idea for centerpieces - a glass jar filled with water and sliced lemons and limes - it's simple and pretty but I'm not sure if the colors are appropriate considering the theme I had going.
For the ceremony:
The same chair covers with pink sashes, pink rose petals on the floor down the isle. Up front a stand with tall ivory candles either on one side or both and a large pot of flowers matching on either side - not sure of the flower yet. I'm trying to find something to go with the color theme that's in season, and of course not crazy expensive.

Another thing! I have asked a friend to be my brides maid and she's going through a lot of trouble throwing me a bridal shower and has been giving me wedding advice etc. I want to give her a meaningful gift, any ideas?

prepared is not a word in my vocabulary right now! lol I want to marry him desperately but having a dream wedding was just that -something I've dreamed of ever since I was a little girl. There's a reason they tell people to go in a certain order of college then wedding/marriage then children and not try to do all three at the same time hahahaha. As far as the weather. We chose March because it was the only available date aside from (his old anniversary with his ex-wife and my old anniversary with my ex-husband !! Yes it's called the 'cursed' day from Hamlet but seriously if those are the only 3 options hello!!! ). The place we're having the reception at does not have heating or air conditioning. So..being Texas we're hoping it's atleast comfortable for that day (I HOPE I HOPE I HOPE I HOPE)

love the idea of the balloons!!!! I actually wasn't considering balloons but now that I'm trying to consider ANYTHING to save us money I'm thinking I might actually look into it!!!!! Thanks for the ideas ladies! I love them!!!! My biggest fear is how to do the decor for everything and the flowers. Going to look at places this weekend to get ideas but honestly there isn't much we can't afford!!! My main color is Regency from David's bridal only with accents of Pink Blush from David's bridal..and to find colors in either of those that won't look totally cheesy (I'M NOT A FLORIST!) and although there will be white.. I think white silk roses are not for me.... but would be ok with stephanotis but the only thing for the bouquets I have an idea of is small little purple amethyst butterflies I ordered off of ebay. How on earth am I going to make all that work? And how would I go about putting pink and purple balloons in a room for the reception that we're wanting a Texas theme for??? arghhhhhh

Absolutely, we're both trying to do school and get the wedding together, so it's been crazy but we don't want to put off getting married. We've already been living together for 7 months, so want to formally be husband and wife. I think I've also given up on having my "dream wedding" because of lack of funds but it will still be a nice wedding, and a reflection of my taste and style.

I am making my best friend also my MOH a memory board with pictures of us, and other meaningful things that remind us of why we are such great friends. I am also getting each BM a personalized bag, filled with favorite wines or other things that I am personalizing as well. I think every gift you give to your bridal party should be from the heart and personal to them it will help make it more special. Good luck!

I was very anti balloon. I have no idea why. We are decorating the place with icicle lights and white lights wrapped in tulle that hang from the corner and meet in the middle of the reception area. Then we are having the ceremony area tented off (it's in the same room as the reception) in the tulle and white light combo, I am just in love with the lady who is doing this for me. The bar will have icicle lights coming from the celing and will be wrapped in all white with ice blue accents.
I am making trees made from plain branches that are panted in silver and covered again in white icicle lights.
I am also making two larger centerpieces from a large glass vase that has painted silver branches that have silver strings attached to them and small icicles hanging from them. I wish I had a picture these are goregous.
I made stemwear that looks "frosted" for my bridal party. I want to submit these for a DIY contest they are so cute. As for my bridal table I am having icicle lights hanging from the front also wrapped in tulle.
We are having a huge ice sculpture that will chill the liqour. That you can pour the alchol into and it then chills it.
My tables have a blue with a white underlay then in the middle there will be a mirror with a candle centerpiece that I made that has wrapped crystals around it. A little fake snow will drape the middle and then ribbon here and there will tie it all together.
I think that's it... although it is early if I don't make sense I have a good idea why.
Soon when I feel up to it I will be posting some pictures. Christmas has me so blah I am hoping I feel more up to planning once it's over!

That sounds incredible!!! I can't copy any of your ideas because you're theme is so different to mine Our hall won't let us hang decorations on the walls or ceilings, so that's why I went with balloons and I'm trying to compensate by really having the chairs and tables look perfectl. I was also anti balloons, I thought it was a little tacky or not nice enough for a wedding but I saw some pics of a wedding where the entire reception ceiling was covered in balloons and it looked amaizing. I hope mine can look like that too, the problem is this company only uses latex - the usual birthday balloons, I think in the pics I saw they were metalic balloon, there were shiny and more elegant looking.

This is soooooooo exciting ladies!!!!!! So much fun having other brides in the same situation of trying to plan for their weddings!!!! I have to make mention I absolutely LOVE the idea of the frosted branches!!! I was actually considering doing something similar with some sort of pink flowered branches that could be frosted in silver glitter by putting them in tall glass vases. We can't hang anything in our church and I am still considering candleabras but don't want to wipe everyone out. There are 7 attendants on each side not counting us and the pastor! Even with as large as the church is I can't begin to think of how 'cluttered' it could look if we added too much of this and that up there at the front. Still considering an aisle runner but still gotta find a 'wow' deal first. Considered doing a diy one but haven't decided. STILL loving the balloon idea!!!! And personally I wouldn't be concerned if they are metallic or not! Seriously the idea of having them on the ceiling is to give a 'wow' effect.....and are any of your guests going to think 'oh but they could've been metallic' ..PROBABLY UNLIKELY.. but they will be 'wowed' (side note I get funny looks from my fiance with some of the ideas that I come up with and worry about......... it's a little bit hilarious because I'm not a natural worrier but being a bride seems I have a priveledge to worry about any and everything no matter how small, big or bizaar!!! ) Dieing to see the branches you were going to frost.......

I will eaither have to actually get on them and get them done... ( I have no get and go at this time of year) or try to post the picture I have in the book although I am still doing my variation on the whole thing. I actually love the idea of everything looking winterfied for my wedding but I have great ideas for other people's weddings too.
I will brianstorm today and see if I can think of anything to help ya out. Right now I can barely keep my eyes open! too early for me I suppose!

Oh I got so lucky with my isle runner it was my FSIL's for her outdoor wedding of August of 2005 and they forgot to put it down when she arrived so it's brand new still in the package and was totally free. I actually got a lot of great things from her like some large letters that say "I DO" for the cake table. About 55ish votive holders, the ring bearer pillow (which was made from my FH's grandmothers hankie's it's so perfect especally since it's a great way to honor her since she passed on last January) oh and the mirrors that are going on my tables. Above all she's been a great support, along with her mom and since my mom has passed on she's really been there for me.
I know you were thinking of doing a spring theme wedding you can do so much. I wouldn't just limit yourself to the pink and purple you choose for your dresses I would expand on that and do a lot of pale yellows and greens and any other color you like in spring. Just make sure you have springish flowers of some sort... well I mean IMHO. Looking forward to posting more!

I was thinking about having an isle runner, it would add a lot to the look of the ceremony but I'm worred about it scrunching up and knowing me....I'd end up tripping over it!
