Smile Invites... for Cupie

Didn't want to completely hijack LJ's thread so here are the pics of my invites. They're a bit crumpled coz they're my sample ones and they've been all together in one envelope in my wedding folder, but you can still see them!

Just picture them looking a bit less scruffy

These haven't got the inserts in them yet so I've just taken the outsides...

Those are beautiful... love 'em.

What's the difference between the wedding invitation and the evening invite? Are they together in one envelope when sent to a guest?

Thank you very much Heather!

Well... the wedding invites are for the guests that invited to the whole day: the ceremony, the reception meal and the evening reception with buffet and entertainment (usually a band or DJ). These are normally (unless you're rich ) for immediate family and very close friends.

The others are for more distant relatives and work friends etc. and they get invited to the evening part.

The wording has to be different for each. The first one normally says something like:" ____ request the honour of your presence at the marriage of____ and afterwards at____."
and the evening ones say something like:"_____ invite you to celebrate with them at an evening reception to be held at______ on___ at___pm."

I know I've said this before but you normally know which category you're going to fall into so hardly anyone gets offended by not getting the invite they expected.

Ann, those are just beautiful! Very original! I love that silvery squiggly bit in the centre!

Will they cost you more for postage because of their length?

Wow! Those are GORGEOUS!!! Thanks so much for sharing!
How did you do the text on the front? It looks like it's raised up off the paper. And the little wires, did you (or are you gonna) twist em all by hand or did you buy them all twisted up like that?

VERY COOL!!!!

Aww thanks everyone!

The lettering is raised up but a total cheat! It's a peel-off sticker! You can buy them at most art stores over here, I imagine that store Michael's I've heard a few people mention would have them too.

The wire I bought on a roll and cut up then threaded with the beads (2 little ivory pearls + 1 bigger black one for the invites) then just squigled them up till I thought they looked nice! So everyone is different. Just stuck them on by a little dot of PVA glue on the back of each bead.

Claire: The UK postage works by weight of the card not (yet) by the size or shape. They announced they were going to start charging by the size but it's not happened yet and shouldn't come into force till after the wedding. They're actually pretty small. It's A5 card folded in half length-ways... It like the narrow cards though.

I'm so pleased you all like them

They took quite a while to make but I did all the fiddly little bits (like bending the wires) while I was watching TV, so I was just using up wasted time anyway. Mo thought I was crazy, that we should have just bought them but once he say the quote my friend got for he stationary which was quite plain, he appreciated the saving! (her quote was £700 it's a bigger wedding but that is still a shocking price!)

I love all the handmade stationary they sell over here at the wedding fairs but they are extortionate! If I hadn't made them we'd only be able to afford the crappiest, plainest, most unoriginal ones!

I know they're only going to go in the bin... but I like making cards!
