Default Mat sizes

Hi Marci.

I just got my family portraits back with a varitey of poses, and I'd like to put them all in one frame. However, I can't seem to find any mats that will fit six 5x7s (4 are vertical and 2 are horizontal). Do you know of a company that would make something like that? Or am I going to have to bite the bullet and have something custom made?

Thanks!

Hum... this one's a bit tricky. You have two options (probably more, but these are the two that come to my mind). I don't think you're likely to find anything in that combination pre-made. So, you'll either have to buy a poster size (or a mini poster size might do the trick) and save your Joanne Fabrics or Michael's Craft store coupons for 40% off and have them do up a custom mat (you can lay them out on you floor to figure out which configuration is most pleasing to you). Or you might be able to find two of the longer, narrower frames that you can hang one on top of the other (although you still may have difficulty with the mats because they either want you to pick all vertical or all horizontal). OR (see, I knew I could come up with one more!) you could buy six identical wall frames (again, start saving those craft store coupons which are interchangeable with each other) and orientate them the way you'd like. You could arrange them any way you'd like with as much space between the frames as you'd like. Ikea makes some excellent, yet fairly inexpensive frames. You might even look into their poster frames and have a frame shop just cut the mats for you. Good luck... sounds like you've got your work CUT OUT for you... get it?

Lol - yes, but someone else has to do the cutting. I can't cut a straight line to save my life.

Thank you for the tips - I had also thought of buying the identical frames and then just arranging them, but was not sure how much of pain it would be to get them hung evenly.

Shaks - those are something like what I'm looking for, but those only hold 4x6.

They wouldn't have to be hung in a line on the wall. You could hang them on the wall in a shape like Shaks photo frames she found.
