Default silly announcment?

Hi Sharon,
This is an odd question considering its coming from an event planner I have been in a relationship for almost 6 years and we are finally getting close to an engaement. We held off for so long becuase of our long distance situation and careers, but now that those things have all finally lined up, I couldnt be happier or more ready for this great event. However... everyone has been expecting this for so long that I feel almost silly or stupid coming out and announcing it. Its almost like its so expected that it really isnt that big of a deal anymore. How can we make the announcement that its finally happening without feeling so ridiculous? Maybe because my job is to make everyone elses day so special and big that I'm having an issue making my own that way. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciatted.
From some one that is secretly on

Don't feel silly about making your announcement! It doesn't matter when the news arrives...all that matters is that you're happy, and your friends and family will want to celebrate with you!

My FI and I were together a little over 9 years when everything "lined up" and he proposed...make that announcement as big as you want it!! No one will begrudge you some celebration and you deserve it!

Totally agree - go for it! Do for yourself everything you've done for all of those other brides.

ETA: I just noticed the OP asked this in November '07...
