I got the first issue of my free subscription to Bridal Guide magazine. Since we all know these magazines are comprised mostly of ads, I'll relay the stuff that actually means something to brides. I'm breaking down one article into pieces. Easier to digest
In this issue (January/February 2006) they're discussing the trends for 2006. I'll do a summary.
Flowers:
2006 = year of the
orchid. Other flowers associated with romance:
roses, peonies or
Casablanca, stargazer or
calla lillies. Hues of the moment are
rich vibrant oranges and reds, even burgundy. They reccomend keeping your flowers in one color family. If you choose orange stick with orange, corals, strong apricots, etc. As far as centerpieces,
the trend is TALL arrangements (like ljeagle's Eiffel Tower vases) with flowers at their bases for the viewing pleasure of those seated at the table. The more blooms the better. The use of
green hydrangea instead of leaves is all the rage too. They also mention dressing the bride and groom's chairs with
garlands of lush flowers.
I don't have the budget for most of that, but mo' power to you if you do. I'm sure it will look tremendous.
