Default Bare Minerals Make-up & Eye Lash Extensions

OK. I have read up on a lot of the questions women have asked regarding make up… can I please have your opinion on Bare Minerals make up. I would like you opinion on the make up in general, and also as a “wedding day” make up. I am worried about crying and streaking… (I pray I don’t cry but you never know)

Also. What are your opinions on eye lash extensions?

Thank you
Teresa

Hi Carbon,
As far as my personal opinion on Bare Minerals, I think there are better products to use as far as foundation for your wedding day. This is because:

1) Unless one of the three foundations that come in the kit is your exact match, it's hard to custom match a powder by mixing powders.

2) Due to the naturally occurring sunscreen in any mineral makeup, the chance for it to interact with the flash and cause you to look pale is greater than photo-friendly foundations.

3) Using too much when you have dry skin can make you look heavily powdered.

However, there are many members of the board who love Bare Minerals and if it works for you, then that's awesome!

As for your second question, I am 100% for eyelash extensions. Lately, I have been advising brides to either get eyelash extensions and forgo mascara, or I curl thier lashes and apply a strip of natural looking lashes and again, forgoing mascara. I find that even waterproof mascara gets kind of clumpy when your lashes get wet, but with extensions or false lashes, you don't have to worry about it.

I am sure other members will share thier experiences and/or opinions, so let us know what you end up doing. Good luck!

in your professional opinion, what is the BEST make up line to go with when chosing a foundation?

i have combo/ dry skin...

i love the B/M make up for everyday wear. and have pretty much the entire line, in my shades... but i want to know what path i should take for the best wedding make up.

i will be doing my makeup myself. i am pretty picky when it comes to make up, and i know what i like. that is the reason i want to do it at home...

also. what is the best lighting for makeup? outside on a sunny day? (my wedding is in march so it would be cool out)

thank you for your help!

Hi Carbon,
If you have your perfect match in Bare Minerals and you absolutely love it, then I would stick with that for your wedding day, unless you've seen yourself in pictures with a flash and your face looks pale in comparison to the rest of your body.
If you would still like my opinions as far as the best makeup for combo/dry skin here are my top three of the moment:

1) Cinema Secrets Foundations (www.camerareadycosmetics.com) If you e-mail Mary, the owner of the store, your picture, she can recommend a palette that will match your skintone. Most of the professional makeup artists I know have a few of these palettes in thier kit.

2) Face Atelier Ultra Foundation (www.faceatelier.com) You can order samples for $1.00 each. I have them all and they are so concentrated, you can test them and still have some for your wedding! They have silicone, so they look smooth and flawless and are great for normal to dry skin types.

3) Benefit Playsticks (www.benefitcosmetics.com) These are foundations and concealers in one and go on very nicely. A plus is you can go to your local Benefit counter and try them before you buy.

All of these foundations have no sunscreen, so you won't get that "mask" look you might experience with foundations that have any type of SPF.

As far as the best lighting for pictures, natural sunlight is always the best, but if that isn't an option, just make sure you have tested your makeup with a normal digital camera. My theory is if it looks good on a digital camera, it will look even better with better professional photography equipment.
I hope this helps!!
