I think a nice long classical piece is the way to go, if you're using a cd...since you're using Canon in D, maybe Handel's Water Music? (Is that right? Am I remembering right?) If you're using a musician or vocalist, ask what they recommend, because they can pick something they're good at and confident doing, which ultimately is a lot better than something you like but they can't do well.

ETA: I'm thinking of an Air in what I *think* is Handel's Water Music, but I can't find a recording of it to check. I'll let you know later.

I think a good wedding song is "There is love", you could use that. for walking out how about..... "Ode to Joy" Beethoven.

Someone gave me a CD of wedding music..it is called "A day to remember. Instrumental Music for your wedding day." I know that you can buy these online.

Fallbride called my favorite wedding song! I suggest Ode to Joy for walking out. I did that in my first wedding. I can't remember the other music I used--we had a CD, which I since gave to my sister. (Wow, it was 10 years ago TODAY! Thankful I got out when I did! )

I thought about "Ode to Joy" Beethoven to walk out but i kinda like it better for the girls to walk in to. I really didn't want to play a CD to walk into but I might end up having to if my pianist can't play it. Thats one person I have not found yet. Waiting on a Friend of mine to get back to me. I still really want hand-bells but don't know if I am able to get them. I'm at work right now and we are having INTERNET problems so I'm on dial up till its fixed. It's hard to listen to any thing on dial up...

Really? no music at the reception? You may want to consider just having a CD player going for background noise...just make a couple mix CD's and have someone be in charge of making sure it doesn't stop. Just an idea.

Oh - you're having a pianist? Shoot - I was going to suggest Trumpets Voluntary for the BP to walk into, but that wouldn't translate well into piano, would it? Maybe it'll work... just a suggestion.

are you getting married at your own personal church? I'm just asking because you mentioned the hand bells...our church has a bell choir and they were very happy to play for a donation....I'm excited about it too...also, each church usually has a pianist/organist they use....or now that I'm thinking about it..are you getting married in a non-church location? Also, if you have a music store...call them and just ask if they know anyone...sometimes the people who give lessons and what not sideline by doing musical extra's.

I probably won't be much help since we definitely didn't go traditional, but here is what we did:

Parents and party entrance: What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong
My entrance : At Last by Etta James
Recessional: The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra

Reception Entrance for everyone: You're My Best Friend by Queen

ladedah no we do not attended this church. My sister attends a bible college and they have a great bell group. They have something to do that weekend. There is 3 ladies from the college that is in another group that will play. But the bells they use will be with the other group. I'm waiting on the church to get back to me and let me know if they can use there bells. The choir there is made up of kids so u know how that would end up. I know most groups are 10 people but these ladies play like this all the time. They sound great! Since they are really good friend of my sister they said they want to do it for free but I know how college kids have no money so we will give them something.

I called 1 local music store and they gave me my old high school teacher name and number. I had already talked with him so I'm going to try the other store the next town over.

bebe- I listen to The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra I really liked that song not sure where i would use it but I will find somewhere...

Vivaldi- some of the 4Seasons stuff may be good.

And personal, sentimental fave, The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba by Handel- great for an entrance or exit!!

Walking out

It is under "Royal Fireworks Music"
It is IV. Click on it.

I saw it was towards the top also.

The prelude is before the actual wedding ceremony begins. I had lots of songs on CD playing as my guests arrived. That is what I referred to as the prelude. The processional is when the parents, wedding party, and bride enter. I used 3 different songs for this, one for the grandmothers and mothers being seated, one for the bridesmaids and groomsmen entering, and one for me and dad entering. The recessional is when the bride and groom leave after they are pronounced husband and wife with the wedding party following. I am not sure about interludes.. I guess music during the ceremony.
