Another MOH Headache...
I love my best friend... and I am totally honored she accepted being my MOH... well I just have an issue...
anyone have any suggestions how to handle this???
My dress came in last week... I went to try it on...some of you have seen pics... So I said to my MOH that maybe her's would be in soon, she asked me if they could alterate with measurements over the phone... please keep in mind the same thing happened when we ordered it.. she never showed up... to actually get fitted she just called in... she's going to have to get measured to have this fit properly right? I know she lives 3 hours away and is having some money issues... I wonder how I can handle this without offending anyone... any suggestions? I just want her dress to fit properly.. and it will have to be altered... she has a smaller chest then her normal body type so the dress will need fitted!!!!! ARGH
Please ladies help me settle this one!!!

I would say pick the dress up for her, meet her 1/2 way (literally, meet her an 1 1/2 in between homes) have her put the dress on and pin where it needs altering. If the top needs altering pin it equally on each side (if at all possible alterations are done at the seems) same as the waist and then the length (make sure she wears the shoes she's going to wear at the wedding.) If she can't do this much for you, you're not going to be able to get it altered correctly and it'll be a mess. The only other thing you can do is take the dress to her and do it there. But I would atleast try to get her to meet you half way. Good luck!

She can have it altered by any tailor not just the place you bought it from. So if you can get the dress to her, maybe she can take care of the alterations? It sucks that she's being irresponsible about the dress and I can understand that it's added stress on you. But you said yourself that you are deeply honored to have her in your wedding so if you want her to remain in the wedding, you are going to have to work something out with her.

I would take or mail the dress to her and have her get it altered where she lives....alterations aren't that expensive, but maybe you could even offer to pay for them if that would help get her motivated...

The ideas the ladies gave you are really good, another thing that you might want to try is to invite her to spend the weekend with you and use that weekend to do the fitting. The only thing with that is that if for any reasons she has to come back to a final fitting then it may cause a problem.
But the idea of sending the dress to her and she taking care of the alterations is a really good idea.

I would send her the dress (or better yet, have the shop send her the dress - my wedding dress is being shipped to me for free). Tell her she can choose her own tailor but she is responsible for having the alterations done by X date - and then go visit her on that date to make sure they were done, and if not, take her somewhere.
Just make sure X date is early enough that you still have time to make her get it altered!

I am going to explore the option of having her get them done herself... she has a prepaid alteration package but I am sure that they can just add that to the balance that she still has left on the dress. I am not worried about her not getting the dress fitted she has really been on top of things on her end. I just know she is having financial problems and I wanted to handle it nicely instead of being a bridezilla. Thanks guys!! I will email her and suggest she call my "dress lady" at the bridal shop!

Kinda late on this one... Sorry, but I think the ladies have it pretty much answered....
I just wanted to throw in a good luck with the alterations and the MOH situation!

Update: I actually emailed her today and she is calling our bridal store to see if they can ship the gown directly to her. She said that was a great idea so I am hoping that this will take care of itself. I know she won't let me down so I am not worried about her not getting it done. Thanks for the advice though!!

Everything will turn out fine! Hopefully they'll ship the dress to her.
