Tungsten Carbide Rings?
There was the discussion a while ago about Titanium rings and how the finger would have to be removed instead of the ring being cut if there was a problem. Well my FH thought Titanium would be fun but then I may have scared him away.
This morning in the paper there was an article about new trends with grooms now and one point that was brought up was wedding bands. They mentioned Titanium along with Tungsten Carbide as alternatives to the traditional bands.
Has anyone heard anything about the Tungsten Carbide rings? Are they going to keep my FH's finger in tact if there is a problem? What is their appeal?

I don't know, but that sounds pretty darn "strong," too!

Stuff I've read claims that it's stiffer than titanium, so I don't *think* it would be any safer in that regard.

When we were looking for FH ring he wanted Tungsten. However, they scared me too bad at the jewelry store and I talked him in to a titanium. From what I heard Tungsten in was stronger than titanium.

We have been looking at the titanium rings also because of their durability and lightweight...so I told our jeweler about our concerns (mostly what was discussed here) and he was reassuring that while it is more difficult to cut off than say gold...it's not impossible...

We have decided to go with the tungsten ring, for several reasons, one being that it should never stratch or lose the finish, if it does they will replace, the problem is they can not be resized, they do however offer a replacement program which i think its like $60 to replace sizes, instead of having to buy a whole new ring...we are very happy with the ring we picked for him....another benifit is they are suppose to be more comfortable for the guys to wear...

thats the site we found his on...has some good information too...

Oh yeah..I forgot about the no resizing. Our jeweler offered free replacement for resizing or scratching.
