"Formal" intro from Kim
Ok, here is my "formal" introduction. :-)
Hey There! My name is Kim. Bob and I married October 9, 2004. We started "seeing" each other (sounds kind of lame ...... LOL) In March of 2004, but were first introduced to each other in the fall of 2002 by our mutual friend. I was the pesky female who bugged poor old Bob for ever! before getting married I suppose I was one of the oldest virgins in America if not the world. I was more than happy to give up that title.
Anyway, Bob gave me a promise ring in early June 2004. Me, wanting to know what he meant by that, asked him what "exactly does s promise ring mean...." I wanted to know, I didn't want any misunderstandings. Anyway my DH said it was his promise to soon give me an engagement ring. So, a lot faster then the couple months I figured, Bob proposed underneath a wonderful old cherry tree the end of June 2004. The day was sunny and he sat me down beneath the shade of the tree on a lawn chair and got down on one knee and asked if I was be his wife forever. Both of us were crying as I said OF COURSE! I was so nervous I could barely walk! I thought I was gonna pee my pants!

So we had about 3 1/2 months to plan a wedding. We did! Getting ready was a chore though. I kind of thought it ended up being a big party. I think at one time we had 20 or more people there doing different things the day before.

Anyway, at last October 9 arrived.... The big day was here. I was nervous, happy and sick all at once. I only slept about 2 hours the night before (long story there--lets just say we had a houseful of people )
Even getting ready we had a lot of fun!

The flutist played a hauntingly beautiful song for the Bridal Party to walk into. Loch Lamond, a Scottish song. For the bridal march a piper lent his talents to the procession.

It was a glorious day, even the rain stopped as we took our vows and the sun came cascading through the stained glass windows of the 100+ year old church.

Afterwards we honeymooned on Orcas Island for a week. A wonderful lovely place.....
Now we have been married more than a year and are still happy and even more in love today!

Has Annie, our resident Scot, seen this?

I have now!
I've been singing that to my monitor since the pic of the woman with the flute
The pictures are wonderful Kim, you and Bob look *so* happy in them!
You know... it's traditional over here to have 'Loch Lomond' played as the very last song at the reception, Runrig did a suped up version that starts slowly but biulds up a lot after the first verse & chorus. What happens in every guest stands round in a big circle with the bridal party in a smaller circle inside with the newly-weds inside that circle then they all sing along and when it starts to get faster they all dance in and out... Normally makes me cry, God knows how I'll be when it's my turn
Sorry to hijack your thread Kim! Got a wee bit carried away!

Oh Ann! We had Scotland the Brave played on the pipes as we left the chuch. People even joined in singing!
Hark, when the night is falling
Hear, hear the pipes are calling
Loudly and proudly calling
Down through the Glen.
There where the hills are sleeping
Now feel the blood a-leaping
High as the spirits
Of the old highland men.
Chorus:
Towering in gallant fame
Scotland my mountain hame
High may your proud standards
Gloriously wave!
Land of my high endeavor
Land of the shining river
Land of my heart forever
Scotland the brave!
High in the misty highlands
Out by the purple islands
Brave are the hearts that beat
Beneath Scottish skies
Wild are the winds to meet you
Staunch are the friends that greet you
Kind as the light that shines
From fair maiden's eyes.
Chorus
Far off in sunlit places
Sad are the Scottish faces
Yearning to feel the kiss
Of sweet Scottish rain.
Where tropic skies are beaming,
Love sets the heart a-dreaming,
Longing and dreaming
for the homeland again.
Beautiful! Anyway, I wish I had known that about Loch Lamonde before! I will have to remember it for a future daughter's wedding.
