Default Freckly skin etc

Hi Rebecca

I'm new to this community (just joined today).

I have a couple of possibly unusual makeup questions that I'm hoping you can shed some light on. I want to look as good as possible, particularly in photos, for my big day in November and I'm not sure how to tackle these ones...

1. What foundation do you suggest for freckly faces? I am Eurasian with olive skin, almost black hair and lots of dark freckles on my face. If I try and match foundation to freckles it's way too dark and if I match it to my skin colour you can always see a light "wash" over the freckles which looks obvious and mask-like. Because of this I usually only wear tinted moisturiser but it won't be enough coverage for the big day. Help!

2. One of my eyes is slightly smaller than the other. While this isn't particularly noticeable in real life, it is very obvious in photographs. Do you have any suggestions on how I might compensate for this with makeup tricks?

Thank you so much!

Sam

Hi Sam!
Welcome to the board! As for your question, it's more common than you might think! What I would suggest for you is if you really want to cover your freckles, then you need a slightly heavier cream based foundation that is waterproof and rub-resistant. One of the foundations I use everywhere from Weddings to Runway is Cinema Secrets Foundation. For $20 you can get a palette of 5 colors to mix, blend, highlight and contour. It has a simply beautiful finish and it holds up extremely well under the harshest conditions. If you visit www.camerareadycosmetics.com and e-mail Mary (the owner of the store) a picture of you and explain what you would like to accomplish with the foundation, she will pick out a palette that will work perfectly on you. This would be my suggestion for the type of coverage you are looking to achieve.

As for the eyes, most people do not have symmetrical eyes (or faces for that matter) I like to say eyes are sisters, not twins In any case, the best way to disguise this would be to forgo heavy eyeliner on the top of your eyes (if you can possibly do without for this one day!) and instead get a pair of natural looking false lashes, curl them so they blend with your normal lashes and make sure they are curled well. When the lashes subtly cover you eyelids (when the ends are curled upward) no one will be able to tell that you have to slightly different shaped eyes. Also, not have dark eyeliner on your top lids will keep the attention on the lashes and away from the lids. This would be my advice to you. I'm sure many of our members may have tips and tricks for you too, so feel free to contribute ladies!

Hi Sam!
With anything, practice makes perfect! It's great that you are playing with the lashes before hand, so you can see if you prefer the lashes curled all the way, or subtly. I didn't add before, but if you would still like a little liner on you eyes, you can take a small eyeliner brushes and lightly line below your bottom lashes with an eyeshadow. For example, if you have blue eyes a golden light brown-to-a- bronze eyeshadow will love marvelous with this eye color. Green eyes can use a plum, eggplant or burgundy eyeshadow. Hazel eyes can use khaki or olive colored shadow-liners and brown eyed girls can wear any color under the sun
Have fun, and let me know how it turns out!
