Would you bring friends/family members to your preview?
Hello Brides (and Brides-to-be!)
Lately, a couple of my clients have told me that they have had two and three previews before they went with me for their Big Day. This seems like it is happening more and more. The one similarity in all the "cases" is that they had members of their bridal party or family there at the preview. So I started thinking that perhaps they felt they had to say they liked the makeup/hair in front of the "audience" when in reality they hated it. What are your thoughts on the matter? Have you or would you bring someone to your hair and makeup preview or would that make you feel too pressured?
It would be interesting to see if the multiple preview clients would do better in a one-on-one atmosphere. I look forward to hearing your opinions and about your experiences!

I am going to one place to have my hair and makeup done, and it is the same person that has done everything for me for all my proms, weddings, and everything else, so I know that she already has a feel for me. But I will be taking my mom and my FMIL - just becuase it is fun to me to get all made up!

I actually went by myself for the oppisite reason.
I wanted to be able to love it without anyone else having an opinion.
I also didn't feel any pressure this way and if something needed to be changed I could say it.
If I would have brought my dear mother she would have said, I just don't know...move that hair to the left...and the other one is sticking up. lol

Well, I would have said I will probably take one friend with me to both hair and makeup (because she has a great sense of style herself, and I ilke the way she does her OWN hair and makeup, we have similar tastes, etc...), but that friend I would have dragged with me is actually going to DO my makeup for the wedding day (and anyone else -- MoH, Moms, etc... who wants theirs done) now. So there probably won't be any formal "trial run."

I'm going to ask my FMIL in to come with me. The wedding is in her home town, we'll be staying with her for the week we're there, and I enjoy spending time with her. Since I am not from the FIL's home town, I won't have any girlfriends there to take with me, and my mother won't be in town either. I'm such a dunce when it comes to make-up that I would really like at least one other person's opinion. Even if my mother or girlfriends were in town, I'd still ask my FMIL - she's a sweetheart, and we have remarkably similar taste. Then again, I also took her dress shopping when I went with my mom, and that worked out well -- so I know she won't be pushy or anything.

My mother came with me to mine--I had a trial hair run at one place and didn't like the woman or the fact that she didn't listen to me when I told her my hair doesn't hold curl if you blow it straight first ("oh, my products will hold!"...five minutes after I left it was stick straight). Then I had a consult for hair and makeup at my mother's salon, and loved the people and the results. But I wanted my mom there as a second opinion, because I never to anything with hair and makeup. Plus, I hate speaking up if I don't like something much, but I knew my mom would say something!

I went to my hair trial alone, mostly b/c it was in the middle of the day. I also had my portraits taken afterwards by the same girl who did my make up, so it was just us two. I wouldn't have minded having my MOH with me, but I think she was working....
However, people there or not I did voice my thoughts on what looked good and what didn't when they day of came around.

I suppose it just depends on the person!! Most of your stories sound just like the way most of the trials go for my clients and I. There is generally someone there to give thier opinion, but I think some hairstylists and makeup artists like to impose thier opinions and not listen or incorporate what the client wants and the reason why they have 2 and 3 previews.
As usual, everyone was a tremendous help
