bang head Bridal Shower and my mother

Sooo, I had seen in several places that the MOB is not supposed to host showers according to etiquette. So with that, and I thought that was what the MOH did, I asked my sister if she was going to do one. She said yeah, that was fine. I told her to ask mom for help on it. That was fine with her. Weeeellll, my mom got her panties all in a bunch because I guess she wanted to host it. I told her what I had read about the etiquette stuff, but said what's wrong with you hosting it with her?
She just grunted at that idea, and anytime myself or my sister would bring it up she changed the subject. My sister told me that mom told her, "Well, she wanted you to do it, so you do it." GRRRRRRRRR. My mom is so weird sometimes!!!
So, I figured I'd fix the problem and told mom she could do the shower and my sister and I will be doing the bachlorette party. I am talking to my sister and she told me that she told mom that she had the theme ideas I had given to her that she could have. Mom told her, "Well, if I'm going to do it I'm going to do it my way." Nice, huh? Sigh.
I just hope that it doesn't turn out to be some dull dry affair. But I know my mom, and it could happen. Oh well, sorry, had to rant for a moment. Thanks for listening.

Awww honey.... Mine drives me nuts too! Right with you on that one. I think they always know what buttons to push, they say kids do that to their parents but I think the parents can be just as guilty!

Well- don't worry about it. Look at it like this. She loves you SO MUCH that she would fight to throw you a party for your wedding. Although I'm sure she's being a huge PIA- by the sounds of it she was probably just jealous that you told your sister to throw it and not her.

Ugh, sounds like fun :/ Hope it all turns out OK in the end, and you don't get too many grey hairs out of it.

You're so silly... I'd host your shower if I lived closer to you! We'd have one HELL of a good time!

Don't forget, you are the guest of honor at the shower. If mom doesn't do things like you would like, she is responsibile for the results, good or bad, not you. So relax and enjoy whatever she does (within reason, of course).

You're silly cause I said so. And I hate to break it to you... I'm not hosting a shower from 2 hours away with an infant in tow. Just doesn't sound like my cup 'o tea. hehehe

Well aren't you just a party pooper. Just kidding. And thanks for the advice, I just hope my mom will get her panties out of a bunch. I think I've already angered her several times by not doing things by tradition. But oh well, this is where I actually listen to everyone telling me that it's MY wedding. So, that's that I guess.
