Default Favors

I have been looking at Wedding Favors and I mentioned some ideas to my fiance. He basically said he doesn't think we should have them. He said most likely they will all just end up in the trash. Which I was trying to come up with things that people would most likely use.

Etiquette wise do you have to have wedding favors?

Nope, you don't have to have wedding favors. It is up to you and your FH if you would like to have them for your wedding.

Many people use edible favors, which somewhat reduces the chances of guests simply throwing the favors away.

You don't "have" to have favors, but it would be nice. However, if you don't do favors, I''m sure no one will notice.

That said, edible favors tend to go over much better than knick-knacks. You can give out M&M in your wedding colors, or chocolate bars with personalized wrappers.

You definitely do not have to do favors. I think edibles are the best types of favors as the other ladies already suggested. We had chocolates in an organza bag with a thank you note tucked inside. There was only 1 left after all was said and done.

What kind of favors were you thinking about? I think that frames and knick-knacky things like that don't go over as popularly as food. People love the food!!!! But if it's not something that you feel strongly about, then I wouldn't do anything at all. I almost didn't have favors, but then I tasted these truffles and thought that they would be cute. I definitely could've done without them though. Just remember all the times you've been to weddings. Do you remember what each couple had as a favor? I certainly don't!

I agree with what the girls have said, whatever you prefer is fine. Edible is definitely better than knick-knacky...the only favors I remember are the tacky ones I was given but felt badly tossing out right away. Food all the way.

My FH and I are having these cute little noodle boxes with pale blue ribbon tied around them - they are so pretty and we are filling them with heartbreaker candy and chocolate hearts. Food is best because I went to a wedding and it took ages before the bride and groom arrived at the reception and the bonbonerie was the only thing that kept me going until food was served!

I am going to try and have pens as our favors. If not, we'll probably just do candy or chocolate. I figure that most everyone can use a pen, so it wouldn't go in the trash as easily. I know I'd love to go to a wedding a get a pen, but then again I have a lot of pens. I know my mom has a bunch of knick knacky wedding cake bubbles and champagne glasses covered with tulle just sitting around collecting dust. Not that they aren't cute, but I don't want to spend my money on a dust catcher, KWIM?

I wouldn't mind a pen either Sparklesweetie. I'd say don't have them if your not bothered or it the money would be better spent in another area. I think the only guests that'd miss them would be the older ones, grannies and aunties etc. I'd say either really useful or edible. You can still make them pretty or cute or elegant (whatever your aiming for) by having them wrapped differently, there are loads of web sites with ideas but EBay is fantastic for ideas... But your FH is right you don't have to have them if you don't want them.

I had the same question a little while ago. We've decided not to have favours as the money could be better spent on things that are important to us, such as photography and food. Most people won't miss them.
