Default Maps

We want to put a map to the place in the invites. Any one have any suggestions on how to do this. I've looked up some maps and I just don't like how they look. Any one know of a good site to go to beside yahoo and msn?

I made my own map in Illustrator. You could also just hand draw it.
Let me know if you need any tips in making one; mine turned out pretty well (although it was a huge pain in my ass!)

Googlemaps is new, and it has some interesting "hybrid" views, where you can have actual satellite pics interlaced with drawn, named roads. Pretty cool.

Google maps are pretty awesome. They've never led me astray unlike mapquest, which put me in the middle of no where instead of a church when I was trying to get to a friend's wedding and couldn't find their maps.

I have to say that mapquest has failed me more than once. And for my FSIL's engagment party- mapquest sent people to the other side of town

Does the place your getting married have a website? Sometimes they have directions- and you can cut and paste??

I actually did a drawing in word....since my maps were fairly simple for directional purposes after some tinkering it worked out pretty well...the best part is that you can insert pictures for different things..for example for the reception site I put clip art of two champagne glasses toasting...and I could also put the hotels on there with their logos. Again, my directions were fairly simple...a complicated map would be much more difficult

I ended up doing something similar. Finding the university is really easy. That's where I used Google maps to help a little. Then I took the campus map from the website and made my own version with hearts on the chapel and hall so people know where they're going once they get to campus. It was fun.

For mine I used the Paint program that comes with Windows. But I assumed, since lj was asking about sites, that she wanted something more detailed. This is what mine looked like:

Like ladedah's, the reception site is marked by the toasting champagne galsses. The church (of course) is marked with a cross. You can't tell since the pic is so small, but the small square under the reception building has a "P" in it. That was the parking deck members used for the reception.

See if your place provides maps to put in your invitations (I imagine that's fairly common).

I see... in that case, I've found Yahoo Maps to be pretty clear and accurate.

Also, if you have people coming from a great distance (and driving in that day), AAA has maps/directions that figure in construction and delays, giving you the best route for that day/time.
